# AI Act — where TOLD uses AI

TOLD uses AI systems. In accordance with the EU Artificial Intelligence Act
(2024/1689), Article 50, this page discloses where and how.

## Some text is written by AI, not a human

The following text on TOLD is written by an AI system (Claude Haiku), not by a
human:

- The divergence line in The Brief
- The short summary in The Brief
- The angle phrase in The Perspective

All such text is grounded in headlines from the sources TOLD collects. No human
editor reviews it before publication.

## AI groups stories. It doesn't write them

An AI system is also used to group articles about the same event, and to
determine whether sources name an event differently. The system writes no text in
these cases: it answers yes or no. The sentences shown are pre-written.

## Every number is counted, not generated

All figures on TOLD — source counts, regions, timestamps, word frequencies — are
computed from collected coverage. No value is generated by an AI system.
